Volunteer

One of the best ways to help The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter is through volunteering your time. Volunteers are critical to the work we do; we could not care for the number of cats we do without these dedicated individuals. Volunteer opportunities include administration, socialization, special events, shelter maintenance, and more.

All volunteers are required to attend an orientation led by our Volunteer Coordinator. These orientations are held frequently for new volunteers. We do ask for a $5.00 orientation fee to cover administrative costs. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with the date for your orientation.

As a volunteer, we expect you to care about and have compassion for the many felines in our care.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Community service volunteers are welcomed, so long as there is no felony crime involved. There are no opportunities for potential volunteers under age 16. The work is not suited to children under the age of 16. We do welcome people of all ages to visit the shelter anytime we're open (Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm). We ask all children be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

It is important that volunteers make a commitment to what they do here at the shelter. We look for volunteers who are engaged in the service they provide; possess a positive attitude; take direction; and demonstrate dedication to service. It is also important to work well with the public, as well as the Hermitage Team.

If you are interested in becoming a Hermitage volunteer, complete the volunteer application. There is a $5.00 orientation fee to cover administrative costs. Once your application is approved, we'll send you an email with information about the orientation class and how to pay the fee. If you have any questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator via email or call (520) 571-7839.

We appreciate your generous support!
